Any advice on how much I should give the owners for their salary cap? And where to get the prices for the players? I have seen them a few times but they seem to be different?

Or do you think it is better to not have any cap and just do a normal draft?

I recommend that you use $260 as your salary cap as this seems to be the standard number most magazines use.

I prefer holding an auction instead of a draft. This way the participants' market determines players' salaries. It is more strategic this way and a lot more fun.

If you prefer to use standard salaries based on a player's past performance I would purchase a baseball fantasy magazine and use the salaries listed within it. The Sporting News has a great magazine for this purpose.

Best of luck!

It depends on how many players you have. I have heard that 250-300 is a good number for a standard roster (20 playersish). The values are seen due to an auction system, which is exactly what it sounds like. I would nominate Albert Pujols and then everyone bids how much they think Pujols is worth to their team, and the winner gets him. Then someone else may nominate Johan santana, and the same thing happens. Those lists are cheat sheets for how much each player is worth. This is if you are playing in a roto/head to head league. If you are doing a pure salary cap league (such as salary cap football on yahoo) it is a completely different ballgame.

EDIT: I personally think that regular drafting is easier, although auction drafting makes you think a lot more. Again, it all depends on what you want.
