There is an indoor water park (Grand Bear Falls, a 24,000 sq. ft. indoor water park) and amusement park (The Enchanted Forest, a 36,000 sq. ft. indoor amusement park). It is located near Starved Rock so nice atmosphere indoors as well as outdoors.

If you are willing to travel just a little bit farther, you could stay at the Holidome (I am not sure of the exact spelling, but it is a Holiday Inn resort) in Springfield. It has a huge pool, nice rooms and they welcome families. When the kids want to do something besides swim, they might enjoy the new Abraham Lincoln Library or the many historical sites in Springfield.
I have taken 4-H Club members there and they loved the town and the hotel. It would be a great weekend getaway.

There is the Coco Key water resort. It is a hotel with an indoor water park. There is one in Rockford and one in Arlington Heights. The water park is inside the Sheridan Hotel.
