You need to go to college and earn a degree (preferably a BSW, but you could also major in psychology or sociology). Alot of jobs also require you to have an MSW (masters in Social Work). Once you have finished the BSW/MSW, you need to take a certification test for the state you are in.

If you want to be a licensed social worker...you must go for a degree in Social work and take the test.
