Presumably, the number is Pearson's r, which ranges from -1 to 1. Zero means no relationship, with values approaching -1 OR +1 meaning a stronger relationship. So .09 is actually pretty weak. It means that as one of your variables increases, there is a very slight tendency for the other one to increase. A guy named Cohen said that in psychology a correlation of .10 is weak, .30 is medium, and .50 is strong. Yours is in the weak area.

A correlation coefficient is a number between -1 and 1 which measures the degree to which two variables are linearly related. If there is perfect linear relationship with positive slope between the two variables, we have a correlation coefficient of 1; if there is positive correlation, whenever one variable has a high (low) value, so does the other.
A correlation coefficient of 0 means that there is no linear relationship between the variables.

A perfect correlation is 1.00. So the closer you are to 1.00 the stronger the correlation.
.09 is really far away from 1.00 SO it is a weak correlation.

If your correlation is 0.01 then its very weak as 1.00 would be a perfect correlation. However, if 0.01 is your significance level then its very significant.....all very confusing, lol

to me, that would mean hardly any correlation,,,,,, 0.10 would be a ten percent, right?
