I work at a Magistrates Court in the UK, and when we have Youth Remand day, hoodies turn up and say "ick" top each other. The apparent appropriate reply is "boojie". What is the etymology of this phenomenon. I said "Ick" to a Hoodie yesterday in a shop and he called me a "cool dude" - not a bad epithet for a man of fifty who habitually wears a collar and tie. Hoodies, now is your chance!

My first thought was that is was because they couldn't mange words of two syllables but then you went on to say that they also say 'Boojie'. Perhaps you misheard and it was actually two monosyllabic grunts. Use any influence you have and get the beak to send them down.
