Genesis 6:3 says that gods spirit would not be able to keep man alive forever because he is also flesh. The son of God (spirit) had relations with the daughters of Man(flesh).
Is it possible that Man is actually 2 seperate species. 1 mortal 1 immortal?

I am no scholar. I am not as well versed in the Bible as I should be. However, I do believe that man lives on two levels.

One is the level of the mortal flesh which rots and disappears, the other is the level of the immortal soul which is eternal and forgets nothing. The two are completely intertwined. For a person to exist both are necessary.

The two are joined during a lifetime when the soul inhabits the flesh. When the flesh is dust, the soul and the wisdom it has accrued lives on.

Just a theory.

Man is not two separate species. There is two separate parts of us. The flesh (mortal) is the aspect of ourselves that everyone around us sees. the soul or spirit (immortal) is the part that god sees. So, in a way, we do have two parts of us. But it they are not different species. They are beings, both the same and different at the same time. In 2 or was it 1 Samuel, it states : God does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart. (heart is referring to the spiritual state of ourselves: the soul) So it is really all in your interpretation of the soul, and your religious beleifs.
