We are being led to believe IRAN is at the centre of the Insurgency.. well think again, you are being led by the nose. AGAIN

"A senior Iraqi official has said half of all insurgent attacks in Baghdad are carried out by militants from Syria.
Ali al-Dabbagh said the Iraqi government has provided Damascus with evidence to back up this claim."

According to the New Century Foundation study, in 1999 the number of interracial crimes in the United States was approximately 1,700,000. That is only one segment of the crimes committed that year, by Americans on Americans.

If that figure is accurate, why would anyone be surprised if people of any other country or ethnic group are killing each other?

I have no idea if the comment attributed to the Iraqi official is accurate, but considering the volatility of the situation in the Mideast, I think the evidence, if any, that was provided to Damascus is worthy of consideration and investigation. The more all the parties to the conflict know, the less misunderstanding will affect what is done. Perhaps the greatest failing of the war and the pre-war period has been intelligence. The facts would help.

That would leave the other half to the Shiites ! A better question is why do the Iraqi's allow people to blow up innocent people in their country. If they would just stop the insurgency by both sides , the US could get out of there and go home.

I wouldn’t put it past the Bush administration to fabricate Iran’s instrumentality in the Iraqi sectarian conflict, or at least exaggerate it, so as to provide false justification for another military incursion in the Middle East; this time in Iran. After all, if Bush and his cohorts were willing to deceive the United States as to why we should invade Iraq; so why not lead us into another conflict under a false pretext? Clearly it is their modus operandi.

Now that doesn’t necessarily mean that Iran has not been influential in stoking the Shiites to take up arms against their brethren. You have to consider Iran has yearned for dominion over Iraq for decades, and vice versa, and when it comes down to political expediency, politicians can easily incite an ethnic or religious group against their own kind, if some faction of their own kind is seen as cooperating with a vehemently hated enemy like the United States. So a state sanctioned Shiite upon Shiite violence is not entirely implausible.

Yet, I think as with much of what is going on in the Middle East, there is a great deal of hyperbole with respect to the way the Bush administration reports the centrality of Iran in the Iraq quagmire. Bush has shown time and time again that bearing false witness against a nation, for the sake of political expediency, is something that he will resort to.

Shiites want to kill other Shiites because some Shiites want Iraq to be a strict Islamic Country similar to Iran. Others want Iraq to be more secular.

Well Shiites don't want to kill Shiites.......all these fights are political......the hidden powers want to make them fight each other following the rule 'divide and rule' .and unfortuantly these peoples are the puppets in their hands....but this is not true for the whole community.there are only few ignorants who are doing this and they are highlighted as if the whole muslim community is fighting !

Probably because they are Muslims. Saddam was a Sunni who had no reservations about killing Sunni Kurds. It's just what they do.
