If your friend is under 18, report it anonymously, or go talk to a counselor or teacher about it. Your friend needs help!! Tell your friend you want to help her get some assistance ... and encourage her to go talk to a counselor first, but if that doesn't work, do what seems right ... your friend may be upset, but it's important to get outside help.
Also, just because you are the only one that the friend has told, does NOT mean you are the only one who knows! People around your friend who are aware will pick up on things .. and so it's always possible an annonymous report COULD be from someone like that ... but don't wait for someone else to act!! It's on YOUR shoulders now.
Too may of us in years past went through being abused by ourselves, and no one ever cared enough to get involved or help. Back in the day it was considered a private family thing and no one bothered to interfere. Those days are gone now ... do what you can to help!!
If your friend is over 18, then do what you can to get her/him into counseling to learn to make decisions to get out of the situation.
Blessings to you, you are a good friend.

You should tell your parents if neither one of you are of age because adults are better able to handle situations like that and they will make the right choice in how to deal with whatever it is..

Tell your teacher if you are in the same school. If not call social services in your town and report it - its anonymous. Your friend is in danger and as much as your friend may say they dont want to tell they need help.

Call the police or Child Protection Services. Tell them your friend's name and address and where s/he goes to school. They will probably talk to her/him at school because this is easier than home.

tell someone, a parent, teacher, counserler, policec. this should not go untold. this is very serious. if your friend doesn't want to tell anyone because shes scared what could happen just tell her the pros and cons. this seriously should be reported.

Talk to your friend and go with your friend to talk with a trusted adult about it -- your parents, a school counselor, the school nurse, your algebra teacher, etc.
