I have tracking numbers & done an inquiry with USPS. It shows that the package was processed and has left the Kansas City facility on Jan 9th, 2007, which is almost a month ago... What is the best way to resolve this issue with my buyer? I can tell by the tracking on this package that he is being honest when he tells me he has not received the package. Can I have the buyer report the item not received. With the PayPal Payment it shows that I am eligible for seller protection. Will I need to refund the money to the buyer or urge the buyer to file a claim for item not received and let the buyer/seller protection take affect? Let me know if you have ever used the Seller Protection Policy on PayPal and if it worked for you. Thanks...

wow, this sucks.

First off, the seller protection policy (which I did use once this year)
was a protection for the seller if the source of funds comes back suspect.
SO for example (my case) a buyer bought something for me and the credit card that she used turned out to be stolen.
SInce I shipped the item to the address she had listed and had tracking to prove that the buyer go the item, I was protected.
I dont know where the money came from but I did what I needed to do as a seller, so the money I got was not in question. IT is my understanding that that is the start and the end of the SELLER protection policy.
You will notice that it is not offered on buyers how are not verified/confirmed .....

If the money the buyer sent you was something I could afford, I would refund the buyers money as an act of good will.
It is possible that the post office will compensate YOU as the sender if you file proof of it being sent etc, but I would doubt that the buyer would be able to do anything at all on his end, so it would be up to you to inititate any action.
Sadly I am not sure what paypal will do.
The question for them is not seller protection (assuming that the funding source was good) the question will then be BUYER protection.

i had a seller say she sent ME somethng.
paypal wanted to know (from her) if the item was sent and if she could prove she sent it.
Since the seller could not prove that she sent the item, I was refunded the entire amount.
(item never arrived). Seller said she sent it and I have no idea why it didnt arrive.
I was told from the seller that the money was not taken from a 'protection policy' but it was taken directly out of her checking account.
Dont know how true that was and didnt care!

I sent money for an item that never arrived and paypal sided with me.

paypal's policy is for a SELLER to prove that the package was sent (since yours was but it was not delievered, that is a grey zone) I dont know what would happen.

I would go to www.paypalsucks.com and get the number for paypal so that you can call paypal directly first thing on Monday morning.
Not sure of the amount of the item but if it is $20.00, I would just pay it as it is not worth all the time you have spent worried about it.
More than that, I would see what paypal says directly. the numbers on the paypal sucks website will get you direct access to paypal with minimum wait time.
GOOD LUCK!

It seems such as you have all of it lined, happy you have the load on the delivery receipt, between leaving you and arriving in Canada, a lot of issues might have befell to it, it would be puzzling to teach you despatched an empty container.
