I would definitely tell a manager if I had a great waitress or waiter. Waitressing is hard work for so little money, they deserve all the praise they can get.

you know what the best move is to get the peoples names, by asking the staff thier names so you may recognize them. Tell the staff you want to write a letter to thier manager letting them know the great service and meal you had so you want to get thier names. By doing this you become an instant celebrity within that staff and send a letter, see what kind of service you get next time they serve you. You will be amazed, simple recognition gets you very far in life. How do you feel when you are complimented on what you do?

I would talk to one of the managers - usually, at a better restaurant, there are at least 2 roaming around. If you do ask for a manager, do it with a smile and make sure that the person you are asking knows you are not going to complain.

I always do, my daughter works in a restaurant, they don't get nearly the praise as much as the criticism. Why not make someones day who's working hard? I'm a BIG believer in telling an establishment of any kind when I thought they did a good job.

ALWAYS tell someone ......... Tell your server, then as you leave you can tell the host and in the resturant NEWS(true or not) flies around the whole resturant so TELL someone so they can feel good about a job well done. Tell your friends and family too and that is a GREAT way to promote buisness for the resturant you think so highly of.

I am more of a letter writer. If I happen to see the manager I give props though.

yes you should. The information you tell your waitress almost never gets back to the kitchen. Unless you have a good server.
