I have in my working life given plenty all of which were accepted. However, throughout the day which I had thrown in a sicky' I would be riddled with guilt as I detest lies and in the end I had to appear in work and stop throwing sickies' unless I was truely in need of sick leave etc., and you know what I got more pulled faces going back to work after the truth and by telling porkies -FACT and typical of the human race - everybody must like a good yarn seemingly.

About ten years ago, we were evacuated out of our flats and moved into a local pub because of a suspect van that was parked under a bridge nearby. We got the all clear six in the morning so I had to call work ( tipsy ) and explain.. They didn't believe me until it was on the evening news

I'm retired. The hours are great but the pay sucks. But I still dream that I am late for work, which happened maybe 10 times in 30+ years. Sorry no great excuses, tho.

I said I was going on a religious pilgrimage, but I really went to all the theme parks in Orlando!
In hindsight I'm not proud of that but I had a great time!

My neighbor has had to call off from her second job several times because her day job is as a prison guard. When they can't find an inmate, they lock everyone in until the situation is resolved.

My clippers broke, after i only had half my head shaved. Being in the military and having a personal inspection that day, it wasnt a problem.

I actually called in well (it was one of those cool ad agncies where my boss didn't mind such behaviour). It was a beautiful, sunny day and I just called in to say I was well so I wouldn't come in.
