I am going on vacation and sometimes I get motion sickness. I bought ginger pills and was wondering if anyone else has done this and if it worked. Is there anyting I should know about ginger before I take them?

I've taken ginger for a long time for stomach upset and it helps. For motion sickness I don't know if its ever made much of a difference. I know you would have to take it at least 30 min in advance. One thing you might want to try if you're open minded is this energy technique called EFT. It can help with motion sickness and just about anything else. check out www.emofree.com and you can learn it. It's based off of acupressure (which comes from acupuncture). It takes just a few minutes to do and it might work for you. The directions are on the website and you can also download a FREE manual.

I have heard for years that ginger helps curb motion sickness.
It is true but each person needs a different amount and some need so much it would not be tolerated by the stomach well.

I always take Bonine and it is the only thing that works reliable for me. It is a med but I can not tolerate getting sick when I travel it can hinder me for days and it is not worth it.

I just got home from a cruise to Mexico. The boat was tossed in the Gulf for a whole week. The only thing that worked for me was one Bonine in the moring and one at night. While others heaved there food up, I was woozy but fine. Thanks to Bonine.
The drawback was that since I was on it for a full week it took ahile to get out of my system. I was overly medicated which is something I do not prefer. I do not like thing that are not natural in my system but the syptoms of motion sickness are far worse for me. I get out of control where I literally can not function. Someone could rob me or take advantage of me because I can be totally out of it.
I took ginger gum on the trip and I do thing that it helped settle my stomach at times but it did nothing for my middle ear problems where motion sickness forms. Ginger is great supplement to any diet and great for occasional stomach upset and indigestion but for motion sickness it will work only in minor cases.

I haven't heard that ginger works on people with motion sickness. Just like everything else herbal, there hasn't been any long term studies done. So before you start taking anything, especially on a regular basis, you should think this through. Since no studies have been done, no one can predict the long term effects of herbal suppliments. Best of luck to you.

I took ginger as a preventative for 10 years to prevent ear infection. While I took the ginger; I did not have one single case of ear infection.

I no longer take ginger capsules because I moved cross country to cure my allergies; but I still eat two or three peices of crystalized ginger ever day to help fight infection and inflamation.
