X=10 L=50 I=1 Its in roman numurals. When a smaller numeral is before a larger numeral, you subtract the smaller amount from the larger amount. For example: XLI 50-10+1=41.

It potential 40-one. it quite works like this: I=a million, V=5, X=10, L=50, C=one hundred surely you in simple terms write the numbers from left to astounding with the biggest on the left until eventually you get to a minimum of one increment from transferring as much as the subsequent. occasion: I=a million, II=2, III=3........in spite of if that's IV for 4. This equates to asserting "one under 5". Then V for 5. actually whenever you spot a smaller numeral in front of a better one it potential which you subtract that's value from the extra effective one. great Bowl XLI then reads like this: Ten under 50 plus one, so 40-one. It takes getting used to, in spite of if that's not too difficult as quickly as you endure in techniques the symbols and get the guideline down.
