The sound of silence. To me this means the pregnant quiet. Although people may not be speaking...the silence itself is telling it all. In the silence is the desperate agony of a voice stolen by anguish and shock. The full silence of things left unsaid...of pain so fresh as yet not completely realized but soon to overwhelm. Have you even seen someone cry silently...their chest heaving, tears streaming down their face but they make no sound? It is heartbreaking...they look so isolated...so alone in their pain. It is far more wrenching than a loud wail...the sound overwhelms the emotion.

Well, that's a good question. In my opinion, the sound of silence is the feeling you have when you don't have any sounds to distract your mind. You are forced to deal with the present moment and the situation you are in. You are alone with yourself and you might think, 'Now what?'
