I assume you mean it's dirty and needs cleaning. You should change about 25% of the water each week and change the filter pad or bag when you do this. This it also the time to clean algae off the glass with a scraper and clean any plastic plants or ornaments in the tank that need cleaning. Go to the pet store and get a gravel vaccum, they make the job very easy and help clean the gravel as the name says. Doing this will clean up the tank slowly, which is best for the fish and then keep it clean.

Go to walmart. get a $4 vaccum and it will tell you how to use it. then just wipe down the walls with a rag. easy as that.

Put the fish in another bowl then just rinse the old one out and scrub it down. Try not to use really potent chemicals.
