Your laptop is showing two networks because it is detecting two different wireless networks that are available to you.
You have the option of connecting to either network, but you can't stop the other one.
As you don't seem too familiar with wireless networks, I should warn you that you could be charged with theft for making use of somebody else's wireless connection.

When you search for a wireless network, it will show all networks within range, not only yours. All it means is that someone else has there own network set up not to far from you. Its nothing you need to worry about, just connect to your own and go on your merry way.
Basicly all it is is just giving you a mutliple choice option of which netowork you want to connect to. One might have a better connection than others. This is especially true in more public hotspot area's. While we're on the topic, Id suggest thinking about securing your own network. If you can see this other person (lets call him Joe, for lack of creativity), then Joe can probably see your network on his list, and connect to it if he so wishes. Just like you could probably connect to his (unless its secured). If you dont want anyone else but you using your network, Id suggest looking into securing it. You could also avoid all the legal ramifications as well.

Perhaps a neighbor has a Linksys too to avoid interference I suggest changing the channel and use a set of ip's for your NAT not so usual so there could be no conflict of ips an routers
