The Statue of Liberty is located on Liberty Island in upper New York Harbor. It is in New Jersey, near the state line with New York, and near the mouth of the Hudson River.

The website above has a detailed quaternary geologic map that includes Liberty Island. It is mapped as Qbn--which is described as glacial deposits of sand and gravel laid down by glacial meltwater in glacial-lake deltas (the former glacier lake called Lake Bayonne).

You can see the location of big lakes (aqua in fig. 141) and you can see that this area was just on the edge of the Laurentide ice sheet in the late Pleistocene time (fig. 142)
