Trankimazin® is what Xanax is called in Spain (according to Wikipedia). It should defintely put you to sleep in less than an hour. You'll probably only need 0.5 mg of it, and at the most 1 mg (but obviously I'm not a doctor so don't rely on me for dosing information). Diazepam will put you to sleep for days and lorazepam will not put you to sleep (it may, but it doesn't create quite as much sedation as other benzodiazepines do (which is what all of these medications are)). My advice would be to go with Trankimazin®, because it will put you to sleep and it's short acting, so you won't be disoriented after your flight.

If you are scared of flying, you should go for a very mild sedative. Whatever you decide to try, test run it before your flight so you will know what to expect. Also, don't get anything TOO strong that could compromise your ability to function in case of emergency. I know you said no brand names, but I know for a fact you can get Bach's Rescue Remedy in Spain. Fill your mp3 with lots of Enya and chill out. Have a good flight!

Why not try plain sleeping pills from the druggist/apothecary, such as Unisom, Tylenol PM, or other? They are probably safer than prescriptions.
