You know what, here's the thing - lets be real a min. What are you going to do there? Which end of the income scale will you be on? Go live in an affluent area put your children into private schools and enjoy the lifestyle. Of course you can go walking, just be sensible about where you walk! Of course you can go to restaurants, with children the Spur is a great fastish food outlet, very child friendly - regardless of the color of your or your partner's skin. You would be hard pressed to find better fine dining anywhere. Its just like absolutely anywhere else, be street wise, be aware and enjoy your time there. You will love living in Cape Town. Oh and by the way, I know of mixed couples who were quietly getting on with their lives even before apartheid was abolished, Cape Town is the most accepting of places.

Cape Town is great! There is still crime there, but I think it's still ok to live there! I'm not so sure about the schools, but remember, a lot of people in Cape Town are coloured! So it will be fine for your kids! It's cool to go out for dinner and activities with the kids, etc! I think the cost of living in Cape Town is a bit high. hope this helped~! But you'll enjoy it there! There's so much to do there!

Whether you're a mixed couple shouldn't be a problem at all in Cape Town.
Whether it's safe is a different question. Some neighbourhoods are safer, but get SA-wise either way by gathering tips on general safety in SA.
I sincerely hope your stay in our country will be a great and enriching experience.
