My husband surprised me with Billy Joel tickets. We're going to be in that town anyway on other business and the timing was perfect, except that there's no possible to way to get a sitter for our 11 month old baby. We will be taking our four year old (I have slight reservations about that, but, hey, it's Billy Joel not Marilyn Manson). He said the seats are up high and at the edge of the section where we wouldn't have to climb over anybody. It's looking like I'll be staying in the motel with the baby while those other two get a good show. What would you do?

You should not take your baby to a concert. The music is going to be WAY too loud! I wouldn't take my 4 year old either. If your going to let your 4 year old go make sure she wears ear plugs.

I wouldn't take them, a little to young for that. Try getting a hotel that has a nanny service. I recently went to a concert and seen a lady there with a 5 month old, she had these big ear phone things on him, kinda like what men wear at construction sites. She said he was very content, but many people were staring at her in shock that she would take a child that small to a concert. I think your husband should of thought about the kids before he bought the tickets. He obviously has other things in mind rather then his children. Maybe try leaving them behind while you go away, or take a relative with you to babysit.

Ask the Concierge ( or the Manager) in the hotel if he/she has a contact or can get you in contact with a child care agency that will come and watch the kids in the hotel room while you and your husband are gone. In most large cities there are professional "babysitters" that you can use in a pinch. If the hotel doesn't know of anyone you can try looking in the phone book for a temporary Nanny, or for a day care that has over night hours that will keep children for just one evening.

My sister is a single mom and travels all around the world with her 13th month old. She was really surprised how many places like convention centers and concert halls have day cares in them now. So look into the hall where the concert is going to be held, you might get lucky and find a "day" care right there.

I would not take a child to a concert, only because even Billy Joel will be too loud for their sensitive growing ears. Every time a child is exposed to loud noises it reduces the quality of their hearing. Yeah you could try earplugs, but how long do you think your child would wear them? Not to mention all the noise and confusion might be upsetting, and you could just end up walking out in the middle of the concert with a crying toddler..I guess ultimately it's up to you as the child's parent, but I wouldn't....I'm sorry you can't find a sitter, I know I've been there before...

Get a sitter. Concerts are not place for an 11 month old baby, or a 4 year old. Maybe you could leave the kids with your parents while you are away? If not, find a sitter or a nanny. Take one with you if you have to..

I don't think that you should take any of your kids. Concerts are very loud, almost too loud. People might be drinking and get out of hand. Plus you will have to worry about where your 4 year old is, if he has to go potty, if he's hungry......I wold really try to find a sitter. What about your neighbors? Friends? Family? Do you know anyone to leave them with?

No I would not take the baby or the 4 year old. Get a babysitter. People still smoke pot at these concerts and the noise level is way too high for childrens ears. I would never bring children this age if it were me.

Most venues wouldn't allow the 4 year old OR the 11 month old. Do you WANT to blow their ear drums??? Tell your husband to surprise you with a babysitter or sell the tickets.

take them Ive seen billy joel and he's really not that loud and if the baby can handle firetruck sirens and other high decible sounds the can handle a concert its actually good to expose children to that... hey the babies that went to Woodstock turned out ok.... and if you think a almost one year old kid couldnt handle it.... put them in a bubble. Itll be easier.

I took my oldest daughter to a concert when she was a month old. It was an outdoors event, but I still took her. If you take them get headphones that are thick and stick them over their ears. Who are those other two? Why not take your kids and enjoy the concert. You shouldn't have to worry about not going to a concert if the tickets were bought. Gwenyth Paltrow Brought Apple to her father's concerts, and had the heavy duty headphones on her ears, so what's the big deal?
