It is an exhaust hood if its over the stove. Its an exhaust vent if its in the wall. The exhaust hood removes cooking odors while the exhaust vent removes air (smelly? air) from the area, Amn exhaust hood will probably contain filter media while the exhaust vent is usually staight thru to an outer area. such as an attic or outside wall.

"An extractor hood, also known as a kitchen hood, stove hood, or exhaust hood or electric chimney is a device containing a fan that hangs above the stove in the kitchen. It is used to filter steam from cooking and remove certain particles in it."

It's called a stove hood. Stove hoods usually have lights and fans in them. Some are vented (that means they attach to a metal pipe that goes outside) and some are ventless.

i'm initially from Texas ("that is an finished different usa" after all...) garbage disposals began to go back into use even as i develop right into a baby interior the late 50s to early 60s, and the enormous form-call on the time develop right into a "Dispose-all" - so that you may want to me, it really is what all of them are :-)
