Fender Jazz, that is my personal choice. However, the best advice is to visit your local music stores and take some time and play a variety of both models. There will be one that will feel perfect, look perfect, and have that perfect sound. That's the one you want to buy.

Personally, I prefer a Precision to Jazz. I don't feel the Jazz has as full a sound. However, do you have to play a Fender? I would actually recommend saving some money and getting something else. There are many other basses out there that'll do the job that won't cost as much.

you could get a PJ bass which would give you the best of both worlds especially since you play a variety.

I wouldn't buy a Fender at all, try Warwicks or Laaklands.
