Norman Mailer's latest book 'The Castle In The Forest' tells us that Adolf Hitler was fathered by a father and daughter, ie his uncle and neice. Being beaten with a strap, young Adolph forged his 'Will of Iron' by biting his lip to withstand 'whatever came down'. He bumps off his cousin by kissing him when Adolph had measles and when his father gases a deseased bee-hive, young Adolph says he's not bothered. We find him also in the woods shouting in the trees to strengthen his voice which will then make the world do his bidding. Norman Mailer is 84.

I think that no matter what your age, there is a time to stop reading something like that.

I think that if an older author wants to write, he/she ought to. After all, the older you are, the more wisdom and lessons you've learned that you can pass on to the younger and older generations around you. If you've read Mitch Albom's "Tuesdays with Morrie" there are many life lessons that are expressed in such a short book. For being only 192 pages, the book, as told by the dying Morrie and written by Albom is powerful in the experiences that it provides.

Im asuming thats a work of historical fiction and Im not quite sure what that has to do with being to old to write. No matter what you write, be it as crazy as a love child of Michael Jackson and Courtney Love, could be a brilliant book if it is interesting enough to read. As long as you can either pick up a pen or in someway communicate your thoughts to another person, you can be a writer.

As long as you have your faculties, you are never too old to do anything. If an author can remain creative and write a coherent, engaging story, what does it matter if he is 16 or 106?

I don't think you are ever to old to do anything. If you are physically capable of doing something then do it.
As for the book you mention it doesn't sound like my kind of thing but then we all have a choice of whether or not we want to read it.

You're never too old to write! As long as you've got the imagination and ability, then why not?!! It's great to have authors of any age..

Doris Lessing has a new book out too, and I think she's 87. It's supposed to be pretty bad.

If it's really like that he should take a rest.
Sophocles wrote his last play at 91.
But Shakespeare packed it in at 48.

No I don't think it is because you get more wise as you get older so the books can only get better.
You should if you enjoy it and you still have a career>

If you still have the inspiration and the faculties to continue, GO FOR IT, old timer.
