What benefits a man in marriage that he can't have as a single man?
Obviously we all know that women benefit greatly from the security they derive from a man's presence and ability to protect her. What's in it for they guy (excluding sex)?

butler, so I should EXPECT her to cook and clean for me too?!

I'm wondering if I got a bad wife?

Maureen, I've got a lot of friends and pals that I hang out with and have known all my life. But I don't want sex with them. Maybe you're living in a fairytale thinking that's what a man wants from you.

all the women mention kids...who said men want kids? We can have them without a marriage, I see guys with 5+ kids, and they don't have to be married and the mom STILL puts out! I'm thinking this marriage thing is just an elaborate way for women to steal men's money.

if you have to ask... then you probably did get a bad wife! I'm sorry.
to answer your question, I don't think that sex is even a good reason for a man to get married (especially in America) because let's face it most women, after marriage, don't put out. If you marry the right person, then you married someone who wants nothing more than for you to be happy all of the time. Ideally you would feel the same about her. This isn't about being a maid or a butler, it is about finding ways to make the person you love comfortable and happy. Making their favorite food, providing a happy safe comfortable home for you to unwind in and relax. Having someone you can be completely honest with and know that they are on your side no matter what. Raising children together and learning how to be more selfless and patient. There are many advantages to a man in marriage if he marries the right girl. Unfortunately a lot of women change after they get married, and they become naggy, bitching, bitter Betties. I'm sorry!

One really important advantage for a man is living longer. Statistics show a man enjoys a longer healthier life when married. He gets greater tax breaks. Men also feel secure in knowing they have a life partner who will love them unconditionally. Something you do not get from mere friends. Its always a good idea to be married when bringing children into this world, they deserve to have two committed responsible loving parents. A wonderful sexual relationship with your partner is certainly part of marriage, but growing together in love, and taking care of each other means much more in the long run. Life is tough for everyone, wouldn't you rather go through it with a special life mate as oppose to ALONE?

Well, if she is the "RIGHT" one for you she would give a darn about you even at your lowest! She would have your back and support you 100%. She would make you feel like a million bucks even if were not the "ideal" man in the "ideal" situation. Marriage is suppose to be 50/50. I work just as hard or harder than my husband. I expect the same out of him. I would not expect him to do anything for me that I would not do for him. All the other stuff is a big plus (taxes, sex, money etc), but if you can't trust her, or for her to do her part what good is to be together?

One huge problem is this - women kind of see the spectrum of what marriage is or might become. Men see the sex. So women go, "Yeah yeah yeah - it'll be sex 24/7/365 on demand (under their breath 'whatever') -- plus going to Pottery Barn to look at window treatments, being forced to watch Lifetime Movies for Women flicks, me talking for 29 hours straight on the weekends and then complaining that you can't remember it all, dressing you 'right', not hanging around your beer-drinking buddies any more, and lots of other fun stuff!"

Then when the ceremony is over, men want the sex to ratchet up and women are already slamming on the brakes and the mis-representation of her sex drive or willingness leads to huge conflicts.

Or course there's more "in it" for men than *just* sex, but sex is a huge area of conflict. Best to talk it over in great detail before you commit to a wedding, or you spend years or decades in sexual frustration.

WOW.You have some real issues with women. What makes you think that women get married for security..Both men & women have many thing's to gain from a marriage besides sex.Just to name a few how about a life-long companion,a best friend,a confidont..You clearly have no idea what marriage is about and I suggest that you lose your male ego and grow up.When you get married it is a wonderful equal parnership and both the husband and the wife have a lifetime of love, respect, support and happiness to offer eachother.I suggest that you stay single.

As a single man you don't have the security of knowing that there is a woman who loves and cares about you despite your faults. When you are married you can be yourself, you have someone you can share your most intimate feelings with and you don't have to worry about being rejected or made fun of. I think there is also a sense of accomplishment that you can gain by being married and meeting the challenges that you face. if you really think about it there are alot of personal(non superficial) benefits to being married especially when the committment is there.

First of all , woman don't need big strong men anymore for " security " . And We don't need men any more for financial security. Women actually have jobs and careers now. I thought people got married to have a committed long term relationship and have a family of their own . You can get sex any where .

One does not necessary have to have sex to get HPV. Several of the types of HPV are not transmitted sexually. Also, sometimes HPV clears up on its own, but it is smart to go to a doctor. Why doesn't your friend just get treated on her own? She is an adult, 23, she can handle it. I don't see why she needs to tell her parents if they would just freak out. Also, I think your friend should be most concerned with her own health. Certain types of HPV may lead to cervical cancer. I think she should just be concerned about getting to her doctor and talking it over with her. Good luck.

You get out of it what you put into it!!! Just because one is married does not guarantee or protect either person against anything!!! I believe one loses ones freedom and somewhat loses their individuality!! I am single by choice and very happy thank you!! It comes down to a persons deciding for themselves which is best for them being single or married!! LOL HAPPY TRAILS!!!

There's a big tax break.
Also someone to share the housework...watch movies with, snuggle on cold mornings, raise children (another tax break), and grow old with.
Oh yeah...and to pluck the stray eyebrows & ear hairs.
