Today, the AFL is the Arena Football League or the Austrailian Football League depending on what country you are in. The Baltimore Colts were never in the AFL, they were in the NFL. The AFL and NFL merged and became the AFC and NFC.
So, no. They are not and never have been in the AFL. They are in the AFC of the NFL

The Colts were never members of the AFL. They were one of the three teams that moved over to form the AFC with the 10 former AFL teams when the two leagues merged in 1970.

Ok there are to sides to the nfl...the afc...and the nfc...the two sides don't really play against each other...the nfc plays nfc teams and the afc plays afc team...whoever wins their...'division' goes to the super bowl.
The colts were the winners of the AFC and the bears were the winners of the NFC...but they're all part of NFL.

they are considered AFC in the NFL.
pre 1970's they were in the NFL, and they became an AFC team after the merger, but they were never part of the AFL

All of the teams are part of the NFL but their specific division would be the AFC I believe....
