lol this is funny because I am going to a dance the 10th and there was a guy I wanted to go with....what I did that could possibly work for you, is (hopefully you talk to this guy) bring it up..."Are you going to the dance on Saturday?"
if he says no, ask him "why not?"
if he says he cant dance tell him "no one really can" and that it will be a lot of fun and that you could go and buy the tickets if he wanted. And that you would love for him to go.

Just say " If your not doing anything on the 10th do you want to come out and hang with me at this really cool dance party"
Just be cool and casual about it..like it's nothing! But it is something to you.

Just go up and ask him. Sure its tough and yes you may get turned down, but if you don't ask you will never know. Everyone is afraid of rejection, it hurts that is for sure, but be brave and don't be embrassed or too shy - just ask him. If he says no, don't let it ruin your life, there are plenty of other guys out there who would love to go to the dance with you. Good luck and hope the guy your asking says YES!
