How many of you think that women were better off before the Woman's Rights Movement? For example, they were treated with more respect before the movement. Whenevery they would arrive or leave the dinner table, all of the men would stand up to show respect. They weren't expected to work either. They also weren't expected to look nice, like they are today. How many of you agree with me?

What planet are you living on? How old are you? Have you not seen the hand guide on how to be the perfect wife for your husband that came out in the fifties I think. Could be here somewhere on the net. A woman was supposed to look her best for her man or it would reflect badly on him. Even after chasing after kids, the dog and the house all day. Hair and make-up perfect, and wearing that string of pearls he gave her for their anniversary. Just take a look at old tv shows like Harriet and Ozzie. That was what women were expected to be like. All the Women's Right Movement did, for the most part, was to complicate and confuse things. No one is sure anymore on how to behave towards each other.

Prior to the Women's Rights Movement, women were viewed as property. They had very few rights at all. The standing at a table when a woman arrives is not respect. That is ettiquette. Women worked very hard, every day in homes and on farms all across the U.S. with no unemployment or worker's compensation protection. Still, to this very day, in the 21st Century, few will acknowledge the work of women in the home. It wasn't all tea and crumpets with the maid doing the chores. Now, because of the struggle for women's rights, women are more likely to be educated, to recieve equal compensation for their work and it is more likely that women have some choice in how their governments are conducted.
The "better off" world you describe has never existed, anywhere, ever.

Yeah, I really miss the "good old days" when husbands beat their wives and everybody looked the other way. 9_9
