She is probably in peri-menopause given her age but she needs to see the doc ASAP and get this checked out. She should also NOT be taking iron supplements unless the doc told her to take them. Since she is have stomach pain and is weak she needs to go to urgent care or ER right now. Drive her there or if you don't drive call someone who can take her or call 911.

Is your mum possibly pregnant ? if so i suggests she goes straight to hospital. if there is no chance of her being pregnant I would get her an appointment right away with a doctor - the feeling weak and tired and looking pale is probably aneamia - lack of iron in the blood, and once this is low iron suppliments from a health store wont help, It could be a number of things causing this pain and bleeding. get your mum to a doctor right away .

There is a diet called Micheal Thurmon. He actually has a book out, and you answer a few questions to figure out your body type, and then you set up a meal plan for youself. Its perfect if you can't stop eating b/c you get to eat up to 5-6 times a day. Check out this book called Michael Thurmond 6 day body makeover. Its a little tuff to eat basically the same thing every other day, but you lose the weight if you can just stick to your specific mealplan!

Hi- I am a Woman's Health Care Nurse Practitioner. I deal with this sort of thing daily. Your friend needs to see a health professional IMMEDIATELY. Bleeding this much means something is wrong. Most commonly an infection. Infections in a female if not treated can be life threatening.

Very sorry to hear about your poor mum. Please bring her to the hospital as this sounds serious. If she doesn't want to go at least ring the out of hours doctor for some advice. Good luck, hope all will be OK.

I would suggest getting her to the emergency room, there maybe something more going on than a heavy and early period.
