Like things that are matters of opinion, or questions that are very easily answered with a Google search or on Wikipedia ????

Obviously because the questioners value the opinions of people here, if they want opinions, or may not want to trawl through a lot of possible answers in google.
For technical queries, like these computer discussions, it can often be hard to choose the right page from google, and you'll rarely find the answers in wikipedia

Many "dumb" questions are asked because many inexperienced people forget that Google and Wikipedia exists. This is how Yahoo! makes its money.

There are lots of dumb questions here because, sadly, there are lots of dumb people in the world. All of whom are attracted to the idea of a site which prevents them from having to even engage their brains for a single second as they dump whatever nonsense is going through their vapid heads straight into a question and post it up for everyone to laugh at.

I think that some are asked by people who aren't all that familiar with computers or how to search out information...generally, when I have a question, I don't post it (unless bored)...I usually search the yahoo resolved questions and access the links previous answerers have offered.

Maybe people are dumb??? Or maybe they like to get answers from real people instead of having to search for it through 1000s of webpage results.
