The Northern line has two branches; Charing Cross and Bank, before joining at Camden Town. The Bank branch is much quieter out of business hours so you could have more time experiencing the lights. I'm a bit mystified why you would want to though.

I can't tell you about hotels, but in general, the further north you go, and the further out away from city lights, the better off you'll be.

Try the website below - they give forecasts for solar flares and coronal mass ejections, which can cause the northern lights to appear. You can subscribe to their announcement newsletter so that you get an e-mail whenever a CME is detected.

Your best bet is the Shetlands. There are several hotels in Lerwick but none 'specialise' in the Northern lights. The best time to see them is late Autumn. Try the Shetland Times newspaper online for names and addreses/telephone numbers.

Tromso in Northern Norway.
Iceland.
Seen the lights in both places - the world's most fantastic light show!

Both places are VERY expensive and really not suitable for babies! Wait until they are older and can appreciate it.
Once you have visited Iceland you will either fall in love with it (we have, and been there 5 times now!) or hate it!
Must do - swim in the Blue Lagoon!!!!!
