I think it is just one of many things that have contributed to our cynical attitudes. Commercialization of holidays is often cited as a basis for cynicism as well.

The media often resort to "lying by omission", not reporting things which might be detrimental to them, or not reporting on things which may not be very "popular" (translates to profitable!)

Not defending any of them, but they have bills to pay like any business, & we need to "vote" w our remote controls by not supporting poor journalism or sponsors of their programming.

I hope it has, because there is reason for cynicism about the biggest news media. CNN knew about atrocities going on in Iraq under Saddam, but did not report them because they wanted to keep their offices in Iraq! What good is a news source that doesn't tell the truth?

Maybe. It is entertainment.

Most is run by someone that has specific views, so the workers will tend to go with a side of a story they know their bosses will enjoy.

Blogs are the response to people not feeling like they get an honest view of things.

Blogs are so one sided that if you read enough of them on both sides you can see what the real info is... and isn't it your choice to choose what is the truth.

Have a GREAT Day !
