Yeah you don't need to apply that much moisturizer to your face. You need to try a different moisturizer if you're having that much trouble with it. Try washing your face with cooler water, warm water has a tendency to dry skin out very badly, especially in winter. But you could try a moisturizer like Mary Kay (if you have a Mary Kay consultant near you), it's kind of costly but way worth it. A lot of my friends use this Wexler stuff from Bath & Body Works but it's pretty costly too, but it's made by a dermatologist.
Hope this helps!

I saw two skin care specialists on a talk show, and they said this. The body is really only capable of absorbing water, because water can rehydrate. So, they recommended not wasting money on expensive products unless that product contains alpha-hydrox, which allows oxygen absorption into the skin and also allows rehydration. I have been using Sheer Silk Alpha Hydrox moisiturizer for several months and am pleased with it ( 1-800-55Alpha) or www.alphahydrox,com. There are many other products that contain alpha - hydrox, I'm sure, but this is the only one I can vouch for. Look for red packaging. Just a pearl size amount goes a long way. Also, I always use a night cream.

you may want to try switching moisturizers. Clinique and Estee Lauder both have great lines of lotions.
Personally, I use LUXIVA Hydrosome Complex from Merle Norman. It's a bit pricy, but it keeps my skin from becoming dry and flaky. Plus you only need to use a thin layer on your face, instead of half the bottle at a time.

I don't think you can put on too much, however, since you don't seem te feel soft and silky, your moisturizers aren't good enough for your skin, try something else, until you get the stuff that works for you, or go see a dermatalogist who will get you on the right track.

No such thing as too much, but it sounds like you need to change your moisturiser, it's not doing its job.

you are not using the right one for your skin. see a specialist at a dept store. you don;t have to buy their product but something similar. like heavy mositerizing or something.
