Ever heard the phase "Won the battle, but lost the war"?
It's all about strategy.

What do you want to accomplish in the long run? Is this a battle that will move you forward to where you want to be, or is it a matter of wasteful energy and pointless pride?

If you can answer those questions... well... you've answered your own.

You need to pick your battles because there is no since in battling the things that really don't matter, in the long run. It is good to learn how to let the small stuff go and save your energy for the things that are more life altering. It is better for your health and your peace of mind. The longer you live, the clearer this will become to you. Life is short; don't sweat the small stuff. Hope this answers your question, God bless.

It takes energy to "tilt at windmills" and fight every one or issue you don't agree with; furthermore, it produces negative stress. Therefore, you should reserve your energy to pick only those "battles" that mean a lot to you and offend your standards or integrity, i.e. racist or sexist comments; incredibly bad service; defending your children when they need it; supporting other family members.
