It's not the age at which you begin using contact lenses that is important but, rather whether you are disciplined enough to follow the rigid and very important programme for wearing, cleaning and use of the lens.
First of all, in wearing the lenses you must almost always be careful of participating in sporting activities and swimming. Additionally, you must take care to avoid areas that are very smokey. This is not an exhaustive list.
Secondly, It is a bad practise to wear extended wear lenses as the eyes need oxygen to keep healthy. Therefore, one must not abuse lenses by sleeping in them as this can starve the eye of oxygen. Continued abuse could lead to serious eye complications and blindness.
Thirdly, lenses, if not daily wear, must be cleaned properly and stored properly. This requires discipline that even many adults have yet to master.
Therefore, the answer would be yes a 13 yr old can wear lens, but only if they are found to be totally responsible.

No, it's not too young. There are different types, gas permeable and soft contact lenses. According to what your opthalmologist tells you about what your eye needs, you should probably try the soft first. You can get a box of them, so if you happen to lose one, you'll have spares. Some are made to wear overnight and some you should take out while you're asleep. I think it's better on your eyes to take your contacts out at night. You may have a little difficulty putting them in at first. You have to really concentrate on keeping your eye open when you're putting your contact in. For soft lens, though, taking them out is pretty easy.

No that is not to young to try contact lenses so long as you are up to the responsibility of taking care of them every day.

13 is a fine age to start with contact lenses. At first it is very hard to get used to putting them in and out and also u have to find out which type u wish to use ,i have found soft ones are easier as they mold to the eye rather than sit on it as hard lenses do which makes u feel like u have something in Ur eye at first and are quite uncomfortable til u get used to them . I tried the all day and night ones but found they made my eyes very dry and uncomfortable so I now use the daily disposable ones which are fantastic a lot less hassle to use, you start with a fresh pair everyday so reduces chances of eye infections too. Ask your local optician what they would recommend i use spec savers and they allow you to have free trials with different sorts to find out which you are better suited too.

I got my contacts when I was 13 also!
I'm 16 now and I'm still wearing them.
The contacts are not hard at all to put in, or take out. You get comfortable with it really fast. It helps if you have a small mirror on a stand that you can look into, i find it helps me place my contacts properly.
The only thing you MUST remember is that you want to put it on the coloured part of your eye. If you miss that's alright you can adjust it with your finger, or let your eye adjust it naturally.
If you do happen to miss the coloured part of your eye, though, your eye will water ALOT until it is in the right place!
All in all, contacts are very easy to use, and I find they improve my vision much more than glasses!

It depends on the maturity of the patient and how responsible they are. I have a 7 year old in contacts that is doing fine, but I see lots of 15 year olds that don't take care of their lenses.

My daughter has contact lenses. She is 13. They are not difficult to get in or out once you get used to it. The optician will instruct you and will let you take them home when you can do it easily.

I started wearing lenses at 13. No problems whatsoever. I think I ripped a lense when I first started wearing them but nothing worse than that.

I got contact lenses when I was twelve. They are difficult to get in and out at first but it becomes easier over time.
When I first got them, it took me four hours to get them out. But now it only takes a second.

No. I started wearing contacts when I was 12, and it took me a few weeks to be able to get them in and out right, but after about 2 months could get them in and out perfectly in like two seconds. It just takes practice and time.
