actually its better to rest thm in the case tht way ur sure tht nothing can happpn to thm but if u dont have the case thn printed part

the case protects against lots of stuff like dust and yes dust can scratch ur CDs too so.

printed part, the shiny part can get scratched and then the data will be messed up if you lay it down. The printed part is nothing. just make sure the shiny end up is not exposed to the light for too long or it may get damaged.

Well i would say printed, but because CD's usually come resting on the shiny part, i would say shiny part.

It's better to place it down on the printed side but you should never leave it out for a long period of time. Dust will accumulate on the shiny side and just moving the dust will scratch it.

on the printed part. if you put it on the shiny part the CD could get all scratchy and not work.
