I would also go with the Yankees. They are known around the world. 26 World Series... Tough to beat. No one else is even close. I would say the Montreal Canadians but you said America, so the best hockey team would be Detroit. Best in football, Cowboys/Patriots for their great runs as dynasties. I don't know much about the NBA...

i would have to say the Pittsburgh Steelers has one of the best histories. Great players emerged from the Steelers such as Terry Bradshaw, Lynn Swann, John Stallworth, Joe Greene, Jack Lambert, and the rest of the Steel Curtain, and more recently Hines Ward, Troy Polamalu, Joey Porter, etc. Unfortunately the newer Pittsburgh Steelers have had many disappointments this past season, but i have full confidence that they will come back just as powerful as they were many years ago.

the new york yankees, baseball team. babe ruth, lou Gehrig, mickey mantle, joe dimaggio, whitey ford. the list goes on. they have won 26 world series championships, far more than any other team. they have dominated baseball since the 1920s. no other pro sports team has even come close to those accomplishments
