In a word politics. Would Israel v Iraq be a good idea? just makes sense and they are more westernised. p.s. you are right it is in asia. Also turkish teams play in europe even though most of the country is in asia. Another factor is the standard of football is higher in europe so maybe it is better for them even though i guess it would be harder to qualify for world cup/ euro championship.

I always wonder the same thing about the Eurovision Song Contest, in which Israel takes part for some reason.
I think you'll find it's not in Asia either - it's in the Middle East.

Maccabi Haifa too. I think they are in UEFA (European competitions) because nobody around them in Asia will play them. Really, I don't see why we should either what with all the new ex-Soviets and other Euros (justifiably) joining in.

you are right Israel is not in Europe, basically is all about money they are a rich state so they have influence.
