I use the microsoft Remote Desktop in windows xp

Can you acess your computer from any windows xp computer or do u have to be in a certain workgroup

Technically yes but you must be on a network. You can not just choice a random pc to control.
The Internet is a global network but firewall will stop you gaining access.

yes, you can remote desktop from anywhere, no need certain workgroup, if you want to remote desktop from home through internet to office pc, make sure the office router forward port 3389 to ur static ip office pc.

you can use it on any computer via the internet OR via a network group (i.e. has the same network name SSID).

try logmein.com you won't have to be in the same net not even using the same OS.
