By saying "mama's" son she might meant her mother's brother's son!!!!!!

If you r muslim then you can. but as pallavi is hindu name, i dont really think your parents will agree with that. As in hinduism...ur mama's son is regard as your brother..n u can marry ur brother..
If u both r financially independent and very sure of ur love, trust, fauth and respect, then surely get married.!!! but i am not sure if ur parents will suport you or not. Its ur decision to choose what you want and what to leave behind!
