Because the States were created through violent revoloution. We owned them and they decided we were bad rulers (they didn't like paying tax on tea can you believe that?) so they overthrew the government through violent terrorist revolution and now look at them. They have the right to bear arms written into their constitution just in case they need to overthrow anymore corrupt governments that come along.

The irony is look at Bush killing them off left right and center and are they overthrowing him? No, they are worshipping the flag and getting fat on fast food while they work 60 hour weeks for money grabbing corporations.

Is Canada like that? No, they got their indepenence through the proper channels. Where would you prefer to live?

Personally, I feel safer being armed. As far as I'm concerned, the more law abiding citizens possessing guns, the better.

I suppose that since GB has some of the strictest gun laws in the world you are assuming that every country should disarm their citizens. Law-abiding gun owners are not committing violent crime, gun-toting criminals are. Take guns from law-abiding citizens and the criminals will still be armed.

Negative! I have to believe you visited a Wal Mart Supercenter and in any case, one may not purchase handguns without a background check and a cooling off period. If it was a shotgun or rifle, the laws differ. One may not buy ammunition without presenting identification and documentation. Why do we have guns and gun shops? It is one of our Constitutionally guaranteed rights. And the old saying "When guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns" is correct.

Tell you what, you have the laws you like in whatever country you came from and mind the business of your nation and allow us the same courtesy, thanks.

It's not like that everywhere in the US. Besides, Canada has more guns per capita in the US and they have a MUCH lower gun crime rate. The issue is creating social justice and racial equality in the US.

Criminals don't buy their guns from gun stores. Law abiding citizens do.
