They are not apart of the MLB Players Union so their names can not be used on products such as videogames.

Believe it or not, Mr. Bonds is not certified by the MLBPA and neither was Kevin Millar. Both were conspiciously missing from my favorite videogame MVP Baseball 2K5 from Electronic Arts. I am not quite sure of the reason for the ommissions. Cory Lidle's was a different story. He was a replacement player in spring training post the 1994 strike/lockout and never joined MLBPA so any MLBPA-sanctioned games would omit him as well.

"Barry Bonds is not part of the Player's Association, the governing body of all MLB players - like a union. Thus, people wanting to license him for a game have to talk to him directly and pay him whatever he wants to put him in the game. Most companies just make up a guy with the same exact stats. Anyone who played during the strike isn't part of the PA, as well - like Keven Milar" (Nukeboy85)
As you can probably tell if EA or whoever is going to make a game has to contact Bonds directly they will have to pay him a pretty hefty price to use his name... Its kind of a bad deal because as a kid living in SF who spends his money (that he has probably saved up, on a baseball game... and then notices his hero "bonds" is not in the game... what do you tell the kid? Sorry son but your hero demands more money than anyone else to use his name in your game... sorry...
Just another instance of Bonds being himself...

He's not in the MLB Players Association, so they can't use his name. The games all make agreement with the MLBPA, but Bonds won't work with them. They won't pay him enough. Kinda like NCAA video games don't have names because the players can't have contracts.

I don't know, but I have strat o matic computer version baseball game and every year, they label his player card "Y.A",,,I can edit the YA to his name, but I've always wondered this too....kevin millar is always labeled right, but "The Juicer" is "Y.A." I only have a 17inch monitor and that cranium of his wouldn't fit on my screen anyways, so Y.A. is OK

Because of his attitude or lack there of, he does not deserve anything that will bring him in money, he used steroids, and all of the records he has and may accomplish he should be stripped of them and he does not deserve to be put in Cooperstown at the Hall of Fame, just like PETE ROSE, and Pete was even a much less lazy player than Bonds, did you ever see bonds play, he looks like a punk out there, he does not like to back up other outfielders very much, but expect them to back him up all the time. His arm is medium at best.

Are you kidding me? It's a good thing that Barry Bonds isn't on video games! We don't want kids growing up the be like him. lets raise kids to want to be like leaders, and example setters, such as Derek Jeter. He is anti-drugs, and is naturally a brilliant baseball player. We don't need kids growing up wanting to take steroids to be "good at baseball". They don't need that.
