I have been having my period now for 3 years. About every other period it gets really heavy(saturating a super plus tampon in about 2-2 1/2 hrs). My periods also tend to last sometime up 2 10 days. Its just wierd my periods are noraly either really heavy or pretty light. I rarely have a normal flow. I do play sports, and when playing sports my period is normally lighter. My periods are also never regular. I heard birth control would help regulate my periods, shoud i ask my mom about this because i am only 15. I just dont feel comfortale asking to go 2 the gyno. about this because I have had oral sex and dont want her to find out. Please halp........thanks.

First off your periods may not have regulated yet. For some, it can take a few years. That could explain the irregularity in times, heaviness of flow etc..... Yes, birth control pills should help regulate your cycles and reduce the flow. If you are already engaging in oral sex, it is only time before you will be engaging in vaginal sex. Sex is sex. I hope you are still being careful!

You can make an appointment with your Doctor on your own, or get your mom to take you. Simply tell them the truth, your periods are some times very heavy and you never know when you are apt to have them. Pretty simple stuff. Your Doctor is not allowed to tell your mother anything, even if you want to go on the pill without her, you do not need her permission. But you might as well be up-front about why you want it, for health reasons and a better life.

Good luck with this, just tell your mom about the problems and that you want to go on the pill - so you can feel better. You can decide if you wish to talk to her about any sexual activity.
