Remember this
Love comes in all sizes....
Your Friends will support you....
And respect your creativity
for thinking outside the box....
They'll be there when you need a
shoulder to lean on....
Or a great big hug....
A true friend takes interest in
understanding what you're all about....
They see beyond the black and white
to discover your true colors....
And accept you just the way you are...
Even when you just wake up in the morning
So make your own kind of music....
Follow your heart wherever it takes you....
And when someone reaches out to you,
Don't be afraid to love them back....

1) Don't talk less, just listen more - No friend wants to vent about a bad day only to recieve the comforting words of '...I had such a bad day too!'. Listen to what they have to say, and really listen. Don't just nod and agree with everything they say, really try to understand what they're telling you and why they're feeling that way. It's a really good feeling to know that you can always call someone up and talk to them for hours and know that they really do want to help.
2) Be honest - People feel stupid and angry and hurt when someone blantantly lies to their faces, and no one wants that to be caused by someone who is supposed to be their best friend. If your friend asks you if some guy likes her and you truly think he doesn't, don't instill false hope - tell it like it is. This doesn't mean to be brutally honest, but a lot of people would feel better if they were up against a bunch of truth rather than facing what really isn't there.
3) Be good company - No one wants to hang around someone who constantly complains. Laugh, smile, joke. People tend to be drawn towards those with infectious personalities, because it rubs off on them too.
4) Be caring - Be sensitive and compassionate. If a friend is truly upset about something, they want nothing more than for someone else to really understand why. Even though you may not truly experience whatever it is that makes them upset, try your hardest and put yourself in their shoes. You can give the best advice that way and possibly the best help.
5) Be loyal - No one wants to hang around two-faced people who say one thing to someone else and they something completely different. In the rulebook, sticking with your best friend through thick and thin is a must. This also goes for secrets too. When a friend tells you a secret, the ultimate betrayal would be to tell anyone else. That would be considered the epitome of untrustworthiness. If you have a friend, you should be able to confide in her without having to stop and think to yourself that there's no point in telling them anything because they're just going to turn around and tell someone else. Many a trust is lost that way.

I have found in my lifetime that being a best friend to someone is a huge responsibility. You must keep things told to you by them secret. NEVER repeat what is said to ANYONE. This makes you trustworthy. A real friend knows all the good and bad about you and still loves you anyway.

The only way you can become a better best friend is to always be there for them. Listen to them when they need you. Be there for them when they are sad or angry. DON'T ever leave them when they need you the most. Make them laugh. DON'T ever talk about them. DON'T ever hate them just because one friend does. Just help them when ever they need it the most. Best Friends are there for there friends because they like to see them happy. So DON'T spread there secrets, be there for them, and make sure they are always happy. DON'T ever let anyone mess with them. That's your job not theres! LOL! That's what best friends are for. =]

- be honest ; never lie to them about anything!
- don't gossip about them behind their backs ; if another one of your friends doesn't like your friend, don't agree with them and say mean things about your friend.
- be trustworthy ; definitely don't go around spreading your friends' secrets or things she doesn't want other people to know.
thats basically the three main things, just do what you feel is right.. if you feel guilty about something afterwards then that means it's not something you should be doing :)
