How about you just bypass the router and hook the internet connection directly to a computer. That way you can see if it is just an internet problem. If the internet is working, try reseting the router and reconfigure your settings. You could also open up your network connections and double click on the connection that your are having trouble with. Check and see if the sent and recieved packets are changing at all. If not, then the computer settings may not be set properly.

I doubt it is the router, this is what the isp's tell you if they are just giving a bad service, the best thing to do would be to try someone elses router and if it is the same problem you know it is the isp, you can allso do a speed test on the internet, if you google conection test about 4 or5 down the page will be one from mcaffee thats pretty reliable

That can work, he may also need to open the ports on the router to get the full internet speed, it should tell you how to do this with the instructions provided however if you go to http://192.168.1.1 a page will appear asking you to log in, usually the default passwords are admin, so log in using admin for both pannels and try to find th epage that says forwarding, then you should be able to open up the required ports in there.

the first thing to do is power off for about 30 seconds then reboot it (unplug it, wait half minute and plug it back in)
