USA wants presence in Middle East to keep uninterrupted flow of oil.
Main source of funding of anti-state elements is oil generated revenue.
Greedy arms manufacturers want their share of this easy money. To control insurgency you have to control easy supply of arms. This is not practicable as it will directly hit the economic interest of arms exporters.

it probably has,but i would think it would be hard to prove a direct link.the money trail would be very complex.
