Any of the "Sims" games would meet your criteria. I started out with "Sim City", but honestly my all time favorite simulated game is Rollercoaster Tycoon. When I'm sick I always play it cause it can go on for hours!!

You mean A RPG (Role Playing Game).
Their are alot of types of games like this. If you want to have a type of game were you can build and create your own zoo or amusement prak, Zoo Tycoon and Roller Coaster Tycoon are games for you.
Another type of game is the online game called RuneScape. If you like wizards, magic and medival fantasy related things, this is for you. It also lets you make friends as you can talk to other RS players.
The most popular of these games is The Sims series. Here, you can create a family and tell them what to do in their daily lives. Their are many expansion packs to this game, like to have pets or something.
