At work in our garage we have this heavy set guy that wears his pants about five times to large. When we see him coming everybody yells out numbers refering to how many times he will pull up on his pants while walking, everybody then watches and counts, closest one wins. The record is 8. I dont understand how this can be comfortable just to think your making some kinda fashion statement. He looks like the kind of kid we used to push into the lockers in high school 20 years ago.

The urban legend of young males wearing pants either 2+ sizes too large and/or without a belt (leaving them to fall around the hips and expose underwear and butt crack) supposedly started from youths mimicking guys who were sent to jail.
When in jail, their belts were taken away from them (probably to prevent from using in a fight or to hang themselves). Their pants dropped around their hips as long as they were incarcerated or until they were given prison clothes that fit them better. It seems that practice spread as a fashion statement supposedly as a way to remember those that had been locked up (innocent or not).
Yes, it's sloppy, unseemly and uncomfortable but many fashion statements usually are: the Victoria era corsets that ruined a woman's abdominal organs, powdered wigs that got into the eyes and ruined visions, 5-inch heels that create back problems, etc.

Teenagers wear their pants lie that because it is the style now for that guy u were talking about he is probably trying to look like the teenagers because he is trying to relive his teen years

it's probably not a fashion statement. his gut is probably too big to let him pull his pants all the way up. he needs overalls or suspenders. i'm sure he also needs to lose weight.
