I agree with you. Is a kid who can't even pass science going to be a brain surgeon ? What about a girl who is 5'1" & chubby .. she doesn't have a big chance as a supermodel!
I don't think it really hurts that many people tell their kids that though. Its encouraging & builds self esteem & goals. As we get older, we learn the reality of life & figure out for ourselves what realistic career paths are. It was nice having those years when you were going to be an astronaut or a movie star though! =)

It is true to a certain extint, If one applies their self and has the drive to be what they want to be, yes, they can do it, I mean realistically, there are some limitations, I couldnt have been a nuclear scientist because..well, my brain didnt work that way, but their are millions of people that have pulled themselves from the bottom all they way to the top of the heap, because they wouldnt take no or failure as an answer, so it depends on You, and the support of people who love you and believe in you, and just you believing in yourself to accomplish whatever in life you want!

To some degree yes, but you need to have certain gifts to begin with. Obviously if you arent that bright to start with you'll never be a brain surgeon no matter how motivated you are. But the higher you aim, the higher you'll get.

Yes it is true that you can do anything you want but for the bad things you do, you must accept the consequinces and the good things, you must appreciate the rewards.

I absolutely think you can, as long as you're willing to work for it. Kids these days are too used to having everything handed to them - anything is possible if you work hard enough for it.

Nope! just anything you SET your mind to becoming.
If you really, truely, absolutely want to become.... a doctor? you can do it.
You just have to be more than willing to embrace and face the chanllenges that come your way
