because IE have realised how much better firefox is and tried to copy it.You only need to do a search on here to see how many people are having problems with IE7. The best thing to do is download Mozilla Firefox available from http://www.mozilla.com/ Its faster, more user friendly, easily customisable to suit your needs and no problems.

You, or someone else using your computer, downloaded a newer version of Internet Explorer. Tabs are a new feature on IE Version 7.0.

I've had tabs for quite a while on BT Yahoo Broadband. I find them very useful to switch between websites - you don't have to wait for one to shrink or to enlarge, it's an instant change. And it's so easy to see the different site names as they have their own identification (eg, colour, logo) rather than looking along the task bar trying to read the name of the one you want.

As others have said it is due to upgrade to IE7.
BEWARE. If your broadband is supplied by Orange you could be heading for big problems as Orange BB is not fully compatible with IE7.
MS are coming out with Windows upgrades in which IE7 is integral, and cannot be removed. Be ready for plenty of compatibility issues.
As an aside MS provide North American customers with FREE telephone technical assistance while we no-marks in the UK have to pay for it to resolve the incompatibility issue.

IE 7.0 uses tabs now. You must have gotten the upgrade to IE 7.0 personally I don't like it that much.
