Most shelters have websites that feature a "how you can help" section that lists items that are needed. If the shelter near you doesn't, call and find out.

Other than that, try to think outside of the box, such as batteries, veggies for small animals, etc. Avoid hard cat and dog food...most shelters stick with one brand only.

I like to donate toys, beds, etc. I think these items will really come in handy. Cats really like catnip and dogs like wresting or tug-a-war games. Animals get really bored sitting in there all day long, Ya know.

I donate regularly to our local no-kill animal shelter. What they need the most is money. Regardless of what you donate - it's the gesture that counts - thanks for caring.
